Frequently Asked Questions

How does VALPRENE work?

It creates a barrier that prevents microbiological growth.

What makes VALPRENE work?

It is formulated with select inorganic materials and EPA registered organic components.

How long will VALPRENE last?

In typical applications, VALPRENE will last as long as the coating remains intact.

Why not use bleach?

Standard bleach is a good disinfectant but it must be used with caution.  Too much dilution will make the bleach ineffective and too little dilution may damage the areas being cleaned.  Wood can be broken down by a strong bleach solution and the loose wood fibers can encourage later mold and mildew growth

How is VALPRENE applied?

You can be spray-applied, brushed or rolled.

What type of spray unit should I use?

Spray trials were conducted at Graco Inc’s test laboratory.  VALPRENE was successfully pumped and atomized using a G-Max 3900 model gas-powered airless spray package.   For gas-powered 1 gun applications, Graco recommends G-Max 3900, and for 2 gun applications Graco recommends the G-Max 5900 system.  Graco recommends UltraMax II for 1 gun applications for electric options.

What size spray tip should I use?

The following chart denotes the appropriate tip size with a maximum #6 fan width:

Do you have a product that can be applied to new buildings and homes?

Yes, VALPRENE VI 251 is an excellent choice for new builds.  It creates a water repellant surface that is also breathable.

What surfaces will VALPRENE bond to?

The coatings are capable of bonding  to virtually any surface.  VALPRENE  has been verified to bond to concrete, dimensional lumber, drywall, galvanized metal, oriented-strand board, fiberglass duct board, etc.

Can VALPRENE be used in exterior applications?

Yes, VALPRENE has ultraviolet inhibitors built into the formulation.

Are there other packaging options?
